Spirit of the role

As a Senior Strategist you will be the leading the strategic aspects of our projects. Shaping the strategy, guiding the team and unlocking the creative potential of a project.

You will work across multiple projects and will be the ‘go-to’ person for key strategic dimensions and deliverables on your projects.

You’ll be able to bring a broad experience of working across different sectors and challenges to steer the strategy.

You will shape new business responses, champion the culture of strategy in DS and give the team the confidence to answer any challenge.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead strategic elements of work across multiple projects
  • Give the team guidance and direction through the strategy stages
  • Support the Design Directors and Creative Directors to ensure that work gets delivered on time
  • Hold micro and macro view of your projects and unlock the potential for strategy throughout all stages of a project
  • Inform new business, proposals and project planning
  • Plan and lead immersion research (creating and facilitating strategic workshops, stakeholder interviews etc)
  • Create compelling brand strategy that the creative team can take meaningful action from (positioning, propositions, user experiences, information architecture etc)

Key skills and qualifications

  • Outstanding facilitator: able to design and lead workshops, enabling creative leaps and break through political impasses
  • Transformation expertise: able to guide clients through complex stakeholder engagement and/or cultural change
  • Compelling storyteller: excellent presenter, writer and communicator who is able to construct a strong and persuasive argument with logic and imagination
  • Flexibility: able to flex and be confident working within any kind of industry, with any type of person, anywhere in the world (from startups to corporations to schools and beyond)
  • Efficiency: able to juggle several tasks with ease, prioritize work-streams, delegate effectively with strong organizational skills
  • Large toolkit: proficient with the tools of the trade and confident to go beyond, discovering new ones and developing your own (making films, prototypes, research methodologies etc)
  • Broad experience: you’ve tackled many types of strategic challenge with proven results (branding, business, information architecture, user experience, naming etc), most likely you’ll have at least four years of professional experience (not necessarily in brand)
