Hour Children: A lifeline for families in NY

Based in Queens, NY, Hour Children is an incredible charity that provides services to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women in New York State. There are more than 4,000 incarcerated women in the state, and many will eventually reunite with  their families. Hour Children plays a crucial role in this transition, offering support  during a mother’s incarceration and helping families rebuild their lives  upon release by providing housing, childcare, job training, and mental health services. 

Last year we volunteered with them, handing out food at the food pantry and sorting through clothing donations. We returned again this year to offer more support,   this time painting their thrift store and small playhouses in a garden made for the children, as well as distributing food at the pantry.
